Vacationing on the Florida Keys

The Florida Keys consist of one-thousand and seven-hundred islands that separate the Atlantic Ocean form the Gulf of Mexico. Tourists and vacationing families from all over the world plan trips to this area for the warm climate, vibrant flora and fauna, and water sports. Scuba diving and snorkeling near the only North American coral reef is a big draw, as is the sport fishing. Depending on the location of the island and the time of year, people can catch snapper, grouper, mahi mahi, marlin, tarpon, swordfish, tuna, and king mackerel. More than Fishing In addition to big game fishing, there are many environment and marine life conservation efforts to explore and learn about. A diving museum, turtle hospital, and research aquarium are just of the highlights that do not include fishing gear and tackle. The Keys are also home to active and innovative artist communities. Discover new art forms, see artists creating new works, and spend time shopping for unique keepsakes and souvenirs. R
